PREMIERE: GODLANDS PUTS HER HEAVY SPIN ON WHAT SO NOT’S ‘BOTTOM END’
Words by Christopher Kevin Au
With an EP and national tour arriving next month, homegrown producer Godlands has given us a sneak peek of what to expect via her sizeable remix of What So Not’s ‘Bottom End’.
The original is taken from WSN’s monumental debut album Not All The Beautiful Things, with Godlands commenting, “I remember hearing ‘Bottom End’ on his album and it immediately stuck out for me, I wanted to mess around with it.”
“What So Not has always been a major influence to me over the years, I've always regarded him as one of my favourites producer simply because of how he can manage to make trap and bass music sound so beautiful.”
With a similar preference for heavy drops and atmospheric synths, it makes perfect sense that Godlands has decided to tackle a WSN original, and the result is one that will undoubtedly get the dancefloor rumbling at her extensive Australian tour. It all kicks off next month and hits 11 spots around the country, in support of her EP 4 U ONLY which arrives via Dim Mak.
“This tour is about what makes us, us… It’s especially for the losers, the loners and the rebels. It’s a place for you and me to come and wild out. No labels and more importantly, no rules,” she says.
